I love cards and by this I am referring to little decks of wonder meant to be shuffled and spread for divination. Of course I appreciate the type hallmark produces but I am referring to the former. Each day I play draw cards. In the morning I have gotten into the habit of pulling an angel card to set a focus for the day. I always do this for the year as well.
Twice this week, from my little angel deck I have drawn the card: purification. This reminds me to respect the conjunction of Mars with Pluto which begins today and moves us to the New Moon tomorrow. This connection occurs in Capricorn, the sign where Mars is exalted.
Where this occurs in your individual chart denotes how the energy is better utilized. Tune into it and feel the need to drive and push forward. This is a week of promises for the times to come. Take head of the warrior and let him drive you forward in your hopes and plans for the new year.
Pluto’s presence demands cleaning and letting go of that which has decayed in our lives. “Get rid of it!” he shouts! Are you sitting on anything? Are you holding on to a situation which just isn’t progressing for you? It could be an idea, a situation or a relationship you have yourself fooled into conjuring up. Step back now. Ask yourself, “really now, is this working?”
The warrior aspect of Mars is stronger then his compassionate side right now. Be careful to evaluate prior to the disposal of anything at this time. Look closely at where you are spending your time and energy. If it is misplaced, you will be forced by the hand of Pluto to redirect.
If you choose wisely, you are in for a smooth ride for the next six months. If not, you will be carefully cleaning it up as Saturn begins his six-month retrograde until the middle of May. Adding muddle to the mix, Mercury enters the wildly eccentric sign of Aquarius on new years day. Ten days later he begins a retrograde dance backwards. Relax now before you get in a twist. This is an opportunity to re-color your landscape. The new people you meet over the holiday are sure to find places in your network.
January 3, Venus slips into Pisces bringing the potential of greater sensitivity in relationships whether manifesting new ones or becoming more aware in those which already exist. Flow with the spiritual motion of Pisces and awaken to new levels of relating. The goddess’ gesture is followed by Jupiter as he whirls into Aquarius on January 5, and expects you to try out your new skills.
So here we are experiencing the Age of Aquarius. How are you going to express it? The magical key is to stick with and follow through on your innovative ideas. The downside of this energy is to get so many inspirations you don’t know which one to follow. It is easy to become overwhelmed and not know which way to go. This leads to bewilderment.
This is the cultural shift many of us were born to be the harbingers of. This is the new paradigm. Going green is not enough. Your every move, every breath must contribute to the good of the greater. Consider this when you go to reinvest what you moved out of the stock market. Your drop in the river is an important factor regarding its flow.
Culminating this cycle, Mercury in his backward motion treads back into Capricorn. He does not move station direct until after the next new moon on January 26. Normally I would not discuss what happens after the next lunation but I do not want to keep you hanging. The winged messenger will turn direct as February begins.
While revisiting the sign of the sea-goat, Mercury receives stable support and you will find it much easier to follow through on ideas. Weigh everything out before then and get your ducks lined up. January is no time to be caught with your pants down. Even if you think the churning waters stirred by the fishes’ tails blinds onlookers, remember no one knows who is naked until the tide goes out!

This day marks the moment of the Winter Solstice. It is the true turning point for the year, traditionally a time of deep contemplation honoring the return of longer days, warm sunshine and the renewal of life’s vital energy here in the northern hemisphere where I reside.
Aside from the annual noteworthiness of Apollo progression into Capricorn, this year’s solstice point marks a joining of Apollo, the Sun and Hades a.k.a. Pluto having a reunion on the doorstep of Capricorn’s realm! This magic is taking place due to the time it takes Pluto to complete a cycle of the twelve actually thirteen signs of our canopy of horoscope star clusters. We will never have the opportunity to witness this again. That is of course unless you plan to live for 248 more years!
Winter Solstice is the point when the Sun moves out of Sagittarius, the sign of the centurion travel wizard, into Capricorn the mark of the mystic sea goat. Capricorn brings our awareness to the balance of spirituality, which I see as a residual effect of the essence of Sagittarius, with our necessity to strive in the material world. This endeavor is represented by the mountain goat front end of Capricorn steadily climbing higher toward the sky. So, small wonder why the Catholics chose to move a Cancerian birthday celebration of an enlightened teacher and healer of humanity to this time of year!
The tail of Capricorn, the sea goat, dips into the liquid realm of Neptune. This reminds us that we must always stay aware of our connection to the divine and the forces of nature, no matter what is taking place around us! Though I reside in a subtropical locale, I am still aware of the coolness and stillness of the winter months. I am able to leave my doors open and the little bit of sun I soak in during the day, is greeted with the deepest of gratitude.
Now, as we stand on the threshold of the new year and this marvelous new era of change, let us be ever aware of that which we are holding onto. May we be open to letting Pluto, the mystic alchemist, cook it with his magical energy. This is a guy who gets what he wants, so I am aiming to please him in this turning of this year. You see, Saturn is square Mars, a.k.a. Ares. May his lover aspect reign beauty on you rather then his warlord nature. What to do you ask?

A very wise teacher of mine used to tell his students “To really appreciate another culture, you must listen to their music, dance their dances and most importantly eat their food.” Taste is a crucial sense. Through our tastebuds we are able to absorb nutrients and flavors and in turn process a great deal of unspoken information.
My teacher’s words are so true. The practice of going outside your boundaries with flavors opens your mind and heart to many new people, places and things. This gives you a whole new perspective on you and life. Making good food is an expression of loving creativity to offer nourishment to the senses as well as the body. We take in food just as we absorb information.
Next, it is the job of the third Chakra, which houses the small intestine, to assimilate and sort through all of it. The third Chakra is named Manipura. It is located below the sternum and above the navel, is yellow in color and houses vital organs. This is where our bodies sort through things. We receive all emotional waves through this area as if via an unseen antenna. Manipura Chakra is the response system which creates our gut feelings. This yellow Chakra is associated with the sign Virgo. Right now we are activated in our Manipura centers and find them twanging with energy due to five planets congregating in this discerning sign.
August is not pulling any punches! The eighth month roars in with a Solar Eclipse in the Fire King’s sign of Leo on the first day. Deals in the works and long term promises have the opportunity to cement or could crumble. Shifts are about to happen. If you needed to make changes and have been resistant, you could very well find them happening for you.
Primary relationships are undergoing an evaluative comb over creating necessary shedding. When you feel challenged, remind yourself that all change is good and stimulates growth.
The Lunar Partial Eclipse on August 16 blows in dynamically cloaked in the many colors of Aquarius. This is guaranteed to stir things up. Jupiter feels pressured being in the restrictive sign of Capricorn. He feels forced to blow off steam as activated trines to chatty Mercury and Goddess of attraction Venuses, bring it to a personal level. Meanwhile, stoic Saturn conjoins them. Adding to this Saturn the general is in trine to Jupiter the expansive giant.
The push and squeeze of energy are palpable, no doubt the earth will respond to it. Keep a look out for her expression of these vibrations along the paths of the eclipse shadow in eastern China as flood waters make an attempt to clean up the pollution in that region. In addition, foreign trade will take a turn and shift the international market.
Right now we are all focused on finance, energy and particularly the price of gas. Many of us have been really stressed by this these last months. We have been promised a decrease in August. Much is riding on our friendships and relationships with world leaders. It is wise for all of us to all take time out to say some positive words each night before sleep and again upon rising. We have the ability to turn this around. Tap into the grace light which came to us in July. Call upon it and use it. Resist being sucked into negativity.
August closes with a second New Moon in Virgo. This is an opportunity for a second chance. If you are moving investments get it done before the close of the month and lock in your agreements. It is preferable to do it before the Lunar Eclipse if at all possible. Believe in your choices. The Virgo influence will have you wanting to analyze the crap out of what you have done. Let it go. You made your decision now deal with it.

I have been reading 2012 by Daniel Pinchbeck. It was given to me earlier this year when I was teaching in Tulum, Mexico. Immersed in the mystical vibrations of the Mayan culture I felt it was a perfect book to fill my thoughts. I, along with the New Agers, philosophers and select mathematicians and scientists look toward December of 2012 with intrigue and speculation. We wonder what will be. We meditate on the end of the calendar stuff and deep down we hope for the best.
Recently a friend of mine showed me a video on You Tube about the healing of the planet and the ushering in of the Golden Age. I watched and listened as Guru Dattatreya Siva Baba proclaimed to be a carrier of the energy many of us are curious about arriving with the coming of 2012. He proclaimed to be incarnated solely for the purpose of ushering in grace energy and being a great part of the new age which as he promised is being brought to us with this month’s lumation.
The New moon on July 2, floats in on the watery energy of the sign of Cancer. Emotions like gases escape from rosy colored bubbles revealing old unresolved issues. Time to hose out under the stiff structures you've built up and be prepared for a releasing change as silt and mud give way to buried treasure.
On July 10 stealth sire Saturn conjoins with the driving force of Mars in unpredictable Virgo. Intense energies move in opposite directions as Mars hits his breaks coming up upon Saturn's stop sign. Will this cause a crash or the necessary pressure you need to convert carbon into diamonds? In addition, on the tenth, logic sinks into the mysterious waters of feelings as Mercury swims into the sign of Cancer joining the Sun and Venus.
Strong cravings force outrageous gestures as Venus bolts into boisterous Leo on July 12. This wild ride lasts until the full moon on July 18 as Luna in stubborn Capricorn beams her willful glow on the warm heart center of the Sun.

Are you spinning your wheels or, stuck in the mud? Indeed we are all feeling the heavy clinging effects of Saturn taking his first steps into Virgo. The added confusion of Mercury flitting backwards in his home sign of Gemini, during the New Moon on June 3, makes it even more of a challenge.
Definitely wait to make any grandiose moves. Time is better spent in planning and even scheming for your future. Use the rapid succession of information coming at you. Venus swiftly flies through the messenger’s realm allowing your mind be free to think about the future. I always seem to be coming back to telling you that we get what we want, when we truly know what we want. It’s because we all need to be constantly reminded about this.
Pluto begins to float back into Sagittarius on June 13 and remains there until the end of November. The spiritual poetic nature of the centaur gives us the opportunity to ease up on moralistic tendencies. Interesting shifts in the current presidential campaign are presenting themselves. The Alchemist will insist on everyone maintaining an open mind. Do whatever it takes to heed his wishes.
On June 18, Venus curls up in the warm embrace of Cancer, celebrating the Full moon in Sagittarius. This lunation requires that we take a good look at ourselves. Are you letting things happen to you or, are you making them happen? The fire of Mars in Leo trining Pluto activates discombobulation. Carefully begin to chew through the overwhelming pile you have on your plate. You can’t gobble everything at once. Do you want it all? I do. I want happiness, health and peace on earth. I believe I can create these. Maybe you think I am an idealist? Maybe you think I am sappy or weak. It doesn’t matter how much people try to put their stress on me I manage to maintain this positive outlook.
We are each on our own trip. Mine happens to glow through rosy lenses and smell of sweet essences. Even death, which stirs so many strong emotions in us, is a fascinating phase of life to me.
A very good friend of mine who was a student and great yogini, passed away this week. I had the honor of serving her through her last months here in this lifetime and being in her brilliant light. I was constantly amazed at her ability to maintain integrity, lightness in her heart and acceptance.
I went to see her and give to her, several times a week over the last few months when she could no longer attend my classes. I worked on her feet, guided her into gentle yoga postures, chanted, played drum and gave her reiki energy. We talked about her death in celebration. We vowed to communicate when she reached the other side.
She floated over a few days ago. The morning she left her body I laid in my bed and said her name over and over out loud. I felt her presence. In an eery way I knew. She promised me she would guide me from the other side. I promised I would listen. Two days later her mother called me to tell me of her passing and we talked of this. She acknowledged what I had experienced.
Timothy Leary and Ram Das talked about death together in a discussion called “The Last Dance.” This famous discussion took place toward the end of Leary’s life. The discourse brings to light many points that make me feel so good. These are things we need to constantly be reminded of.
Many of us do our most profound work in the last few minutes before we die. Why wait? I want to begin this work now! Leary urged us to learn to face our final release with interest, class, style and friendship. He said that you can’t turn your life over to doctors or priests. Leary emphatically advised us to take charge of our death by taking charge of our lives. He constantly taught that we need to think for ourselves.
I interpret this to mean: Dare to want it all. Dive deep within yourself and find your truth. The proper way to do this is by being yourself. Discover, explore and treasure your own uniqueness.
Find your joy by turning your life into a dance. Find your all by transforming your life into a poem. You are a writer of your destiny. Why make it a drama? Be compassionate to your body. Love strangers. Give. Receive. Find your super consciousness.
Ram Das teaches us that we picked it all: Our births, our deaths and all of the in-between. Why fight your choice? He describes that we are awareness. His analogy is that we are fingers of consciousness branching off of the hand of the one consciousness. We can move the hand in any direction we please.
What I really want is for us to live in harmony. What I really want is for us to be healthy and to treat the earth with love and respect. What I really want is to share the good parts of myself with everyone I come in contact with. What I really want is to feed those who cross my path with all my good intentions and fill them up with happiness and joy. What I really want is for us to find the one state of being in a loving vibration.
Jill Bolte Taylor said: We are the life force power of the universe . . . We have the power to choose moment by moment who and how we want to be in the world.
What are we choosing? I choose for us to want it all.

Earth Day as a celebration of the glory of the goddess is a very personal matter for me at many levels. I expected to see more of a rejoicing rather then a cartoon waterfall on Google. I hoped to see people show their appreciation for the grace of the mother goddess. Instead, I continue to see them toss their cigarette butts out of car windows and throw plastic bottles everywhere. I often ask myself, “What is the matter with us?” Why can’t we seem to get it through our heads that the earth is our mother and we must take care of her? When will we begin to honor the responsibility of stewardship and show our love and appreciation for her our supreme mother?
What is this disconnection so many of us feel is a birthright? What will it take to convince humanity that we are one? The truth is we are joined by energetic roots which hold us to this blue rock. We are not only part of a system. We are the system. What we do and think makes an impact on each and every being. Our thoughts become form. Let’s make a commitment to look at what we are thinking. We must choose to be responsible for what is going on here. Ancient humans had it together worshiping the goddess. Take a look at their techniques and adopt them as your own.
The Taurus new moon on May 5, is a call to connect deeply with nature. Decide to go out, experience her in all of her glory and feel your relationship with her. The macrocosm has the ability to heal and cure us in so many ways. We humans just as all animals have an unspoken deep desire to commune and be natural. It’s true. Pluto was demoted to the status of a dwarf planet. Don’t let this fool you into thinking that he is any less powerful. His enchanted tricks will begin with a station to retrograde on April Fool’s Day. Double check yourself and plan your feet firmly in the ground. This is no time to feel wobbly.
Pluto leaves his one degree Capricorn position and makes a steady regression back into Sagittarius from June through November of this year. This last visit in the realm of the poetic wanderer gives us the opportunity to commit to the changes brought about regarding our spiritual path and direction.
All decisions and pushes forward must be deliberate and well thought out. Just because it feels like a good idea or seems like a cool thing to do, is not a good reason. Saturn trines the murky necromancer with the earthy energy of Virgo. I’ve been telling you to change your ways and get earth-wise. You’ll soon know exactly what I mean.
